ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL GRADUATE!

Dear Miss Reception,
First of all about my interview. I had an interview for receptionist position at Gordon Ramsay Holdings. It went very well as a combination of Easy+Two Way streets. As the result of that - I am on a trial day tomorrow. I will let you know later if I succeeded. And once again I say VERY BIG THANK YOU for valuable knowledge given to us.
Kind regards
Alina

NEW TRAINING CENTRE

We are so excited at Miss Reception because we are now based at our new training centre in the heart of London's financial district. Our beautiful new home in St Helen's Place, London EC1 virtually has the famous 'Gherkin' overlooking our offices! The stunning Swiss Re building is one of London's most prestigious landmarks and our new offices can only be described as sumptuous. The gates leading to the beautiful courtyard, the intricate architecture and the overall elegance is absolutely stunning and we are even more proud of the journey to work. The ambience and prestige the area provides is nothing short of breath taking. Our courses will commence at our new home on Monday 11th August 2008 and we look forward to welcoming our students here in the foreseeable future.

BBC RADIO INTERVIEW & MISS RECEPTION

Miss Reception was invited to speak about etiquette at BBC Radio today and we must say it was a privilege to do so. We were asked to give our opinion on manners, the general way that people answer the phone these days and why we think receptionists are at times not as polite as they should be. Not the graduates from Miss Reception! Being at the studio was a great experience and one which our trainer Sun will never forget. It's important to remember the reason why we need to be courteous at all times and how we need to control our voices and the tone in our voice. This is afterall vitel to a receptionists make-up. The DJ, Fred Mcauley was wonderful to speak with and who in turn has an equally engaging voice for radio. Fred asked lots of questions but mainly wanted to know what makes a good receptionist and what problems have we encountered as a training provider. The live session will be available to hear soon but this was a truly remarkable day again celebrating the role of the receptionist in terms of etiquette, recognition and importance. Long may it continue................

WHAT A LADY HAYLEY!!!!!

When entertainment Lawyers to the stars contacted Miss Reception we were not prepared for the dynamics that were to be Miss Hayley Nott. Hayley we are very proud to say scored for the first time on record the highest ever marks on her final examination paper! 49 out of 50 questions is unbelievable and we are all very proud and still stunned at the academy. Hayley was a breath of fresh air with her personality, (good looks - she asked us to say that) and incredible capacity for learning. Hayley was already working in the role of receptionist but joined the academy to learn more about the role and to gain the professional diploma. As if meeting the rich and famous was not enough in her daily routine, Hayley is a busy girl and belongs to the dance troop Allstarz which tours the world putting on amazing dance acts for big names and events. May you continue on this path of succeeding but true to form Hayley keep doing this with that cheeky and mischievous smile!

CONGRATULATIONS LINDI!!!

Again more incredible news for one of our students Lindi-Alice Moyo. Lindi joined the academy to learn more about professional reception but more importantly to better her confidence and career to give her and her gorgeous little boy a wonderful future. Lindi you are one amazing lady because not only did you pass with exceptionally high marks you have now secured yourself a great job within the NHS! Lindi is a lady who showed humility, stamina and great determination and this is reflected in the way you have turned your life around. Miss Reception could only take you so far but the rest has clearly and confidently been down to you. You are exceptional! Well done (see what Lindi wrote below).
"Hi Sunny, I am over the moon, Thank you ever so much Sunny, I really appreciate this, you don't know how much you changed my perspective about the simple things in life, I went for those interviews with you beside me, I hoped to prove you right and myself too, I'm very grateful and please keep up the good work , I am so happy in my life despite any circumstance I am in and working hard to make my sons life great . WHAT A STAR!

We heard from one of our favourite clients today who recruited Kerry McGowan almost a year ago. This manic firm of solicitors was praising Kerry for her professionalism and commitment. They were recruiting for a receptionist for nearly six months before Kerry was put forward as an alternative choice to an experienced Receptionist. Kerry was working for a restaurant local to her home and as with many people in this profession, Kerry felt she was going no where fast and although she had made many friends this was not the career she had dreamed about. Kerry needed to find a way out and so along came Miss Reception. Kerry exceeded all her expectations at the academy and not only passed with flying colours, Kerry went for an interview and was offered the job as front of house receptionist at one of North London's busiest law firms. Kerry has done exceptionally well at this firm and is living proof that you can go from waitress to solicitors receptionist if you are dedicated, determined and devoted.

STAY AHEAD OF THE GAME........

At Miss Reception we are proud of the way in which the role of reception is starting to be viewed. More and more students are finding out that although this is a challenging and varied career, it does not come without its hurdles and tough days. Reception has fast been one of the most competitive positions on the job market over the past few years and you will all notice that as a job becomes available, it is quickly filled.

To stay ahead with your skills, including computer, typing and general admin skills is vital depending on the job you are applying for. An open and warm approach is always attractive as well as exemplary manners, immaculate presentation and a CV that compliments your career history and more importantly...............you.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Well, well, well! Our lovely student Candy called us today with the news that she has started work as a receptionist and achieved this in the middle of the training! Candy joined the academy to better her skills, knowledge and confidence and more than anything to change her career and find work in a corporate company. Originally from South Africa candy felt that she required the knowledge and expertise in this field to secure employment and more importantly pass interviews! This is incredible news and we hope candy that your career goes from strength to strength.

To your success Candy

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We are over the moon that Blanka Nadalyova left the academy two weeks ago and found a receptionist position immediately. Blanka you were an incredible student and we cannot tell how proud and happy we are for you. We could go on but we thought we would print Blanka's email.......

Hello Sun,

First of all I would like to thank you for everything, what you and Miss Reception gave me.

The day after our last Saturday I changed my CV and started to apply for positions as a receptionist. And guess what I had 2 interviews recently! I used all my skills and knowledge gained from the acadamy, prepared myself thoroughly and went there confidently, sure in myself. Both interviews went really well, and Imperials Hotel has already offered me the position...so next monday I am going to be a professional receptionist...:-))))))))))))))))))

Thank you again,

Blanka

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Maria Trubova joined Miss Reception because she wanted to gain more confidence, assertiveness and knowledge. Although Maria was working in a travel agent she did miss the hotel industry where she had previously had many roles. Two week's after leaving the academy Maria found her dream reception job working for one of London's top 5* hotels and all this was achieved before Maria had even received her results! Maria has said that the confidence she gained and the empowerment she felt after leaving was really showing through and especially in interviews. In the same week, Maria was also offered a position at the RAC but decided to stay with the hotel. We are very proud of Maria and of everything she has achieved in such a very short space of time. Our very best wishes to you now and in the future.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Many many congratulations to Charmaine Trotman who recently graduated from the academy and successfully found a professional receptionist position with a top company in Covent Garden. Charmaine is living proof that miracles can and do happen. Charmaine was working in retail (female lingerie to be precise) prior to enroling at the academy but felt she was not achieving her dreams of finding a position within the corporate world. Charmaine has said that she felt empowered and confident when she left the academy and this along with her training has given her a wonderful opportunity. We are proud of Charmaine and wish her all the very best in her new position. Long may your success continue............................

Welcome to Miss Reception World

Hello and welcome to the very first day of The Miss Reception blog. This blog is open to all who feel they have something to say, something to celebrate and to update yourselves on what is happening in the world of reception. We felt it was important for receptionists everywhere to have a voice and most importantly be recognised for the incredible job that you do. Miss Reception was founded purely out of passion to highlight, enhance and catapult the profile of this very often overlooked and un-recognised position. The image and the perception of a company's impression rests squarely on a receptionist's shoulders and to this end we applaud and honour London's finest because you are the flagships, the driving force and the all encompassing unsung heores of the corporate world.
